MCP - Connect Scytale to your AI assistant

Scytale's MCP connector lets you work with your compliance data through an AI assistant using plain language. Instead of clicking through the platform, you can just ask "how ready are we for our SOC 2 audit?", and get an answer from your live Scytale data.

It works with AI tools that support MCP (Model Context Protocol), the secure standard for connecting AI assistants to the tools you use. This includes Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible assistants. You don't need to be technical to set it up.

What you can do with it

Once connected, you can ask your AI assistant things like:

  • "How ready are we for our SOC 2 audit right now?"

  • "Which controls are failing or still need evidence?"

  • "Which policies haven't been signed yet, and by whom?"

  • "How many vendors haven't been reviewed?"

  • "Give me a quick compliance status for our stand-up."

You can also have it build reports and summaries from your compliance data - great for updates, dashboards, and audit prep.

What it can access

The connector can read your compliance program in Scytale, such as audits info, controls, risks, vendors and more.

It's read-only access, meaning your assistant can view your data to answer questions and build reports, but it can't change anything in Scytale.

Before you start

  • Ensure you have an active Scytale account (an Admin sets up the connection).

  • An AI assistant that supports custom connectors (for example, Claude or ChatGPT) on a plan that allows it.

  • Generate your Scytale connector link for your region.

How to connect

The exact wording varies by AI tool, but the steps are the same everywhere:

  1. In your AI assistant, open its Connectors settings (sometimes called "Custom connectors" or "MCP servers").

  2. Choose to add a custom connector.

  3. Paste your Scytale connector link and confirm.

  4. Click Connect, sign in with your Scytale account, and choose the company you want to connect.

  5. Start a chat and turn Scytale on when you want to use it.

Where to find it:
In Claude, it's under Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
In ChatGPT, look under Settings → Connectors. Other MCP-compatible tools have a similar "add connector" option in their settings.

On team/business plans, an admin usually adds the connector once for the whole organization; team members then just click Connect and sign in.

Is it secure?

Yes. A few things worth knowing:

  • Read-only — the connector can view your compliance data, never edit it.

  • You sign in with your own Scytale login, and access is limited to the company you choose.

  • Your data stays in your region (EU or US).

  • You can disconnect anytime from your AI tool's connector settings.

Tips

  • Be specific: "which SOC 2 controls are failing this week?" works better than "how are we doing?"

  • If you manage more than one company in Scytale, make sure you pick the right one when you sign in.
