Pinecone - User Guide

In this article, you will understand step by step how to integrate Scytale with Pinecone

Pinecone is a managed vector database used to store and query embeddings for AI applications such as semantic search, recommendations and RAG.

Required Permissions

  • Control plane: read

Scytale follows the least-privilege principle, limiting permission scopes strictly to what's required for reliable audit evidence collection.

How to Connect

  1. In Scytale, go to 'Integrations'.

  2. Search for Pinecone and select 'Connect'.

  3. Paste your API key, project name & project ID.

  4. Add a connection name — this will be used to differentiate between your connections — and then select 'Connect'.

You have now successfully connected to Pinecone.

How to Generate Credentials in Pinecone

  1. Log in to the Pinecone console at app.pinecone.io.

  2. Select the project you want Scytale to monitor.

  3. Open API keys in the project sidebar.

  4. Click Create API key.

  5. Name it Scytale.

  6. Set permissions to ControlPlaneViewer (read-only, control plane only).

  7. Click Create key, then copy the value. It is shown once.

The customer must be on Standard or above. Starter and Builder cannot issue a scoped key, and have no backups feature at all. See Plan gating under Permissions.
